hackerhub is a read-only index of public Hacker News links. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics. In one sentence: we do not collect personal data, and the only thing stored on your device is your theme preference.
What we do not collect
- No names, email addresses or passwords — there are no accounts.
- No cookies of our own.
- No analytics, session recording, fingerprinting or A/B testing.
- No advertising identifiers and no third-party trackers.
- No server-side profile of what you view or search for.
Stored on your device
One localStorage key, theme, remembers whether you chose light, dark or system theme. It never leaves your browser and you can clear it from your browser settings at any time.
Hosting and logs
The site is served by Cloudflare Workers. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request metadata (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) to deliver responses, cache content and block abuse. We do not export, join or analyse those logs to identify visitors, and we keep no separate access log of our own. Cloudflare's own retention and processing terms apply.
Third-party images and links
Thumbnails and cover images are loaded directly by your browser from the original providers — YouTube (i.ytimg.com), GitHub (opengraph.githubassets.com), Open Library (covers.openlibrary.org) and Google favicons (google.com/s2/favicons). Those providers see your IP address, user agent and the referring page, as they would on any site that embeds their images. If an image cannot be loaded, the site shows a letter tile instead.
Every entry links out to the original source and to Hacker News. Once you follow a link, the destination site's privacy policy applies; we have no control over it. Search queries are sent to this site only to render results and are not stored.
If you write to hello@hackerhub.app, we keep the message only to reply and to handle the request it contains. We do not add addresses to any list and do not send marketing email.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, UK GDPR and similar laws (including CCPA/CPRA) you may ask what personal data is held about you, request a copy, correction or deletion, or object to processing. Because the site holds no account data, in practice there is usually nothing to return; hosting logs are held by Cloudflare. Send requests to hello@hackerhub.app and we will answer within 30 days.
Data is served from Cloudflare's global network, so requests may be processed outside your country; Cloudflare relies on standard contractual clauses for such transfers.
Children
The site is a general-audience index and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If the practices above change — for example if analytics or a newsletter is added — this page will be updated and the date at the top changed before the change takes effect.
